I went digging in my old Lyman book and found a load with 540 powder and SP20 wads. Also some HS-6 which I’ve read is one of the few powders that is the same as 540. Has anybody had luck loading 1oz. Loads in a Premier Hull? I've tried three of the possible load recipies on Hogdon's site to no avail. Major crimp issues. My 1oz load in Fed is Long shot with 20S1. I really don't think you'll have an issue. The F1 wads are out-of-print, so I haven't used them. In 7/8 loads Rem wads with Win case and vice versa works the best. Like.16 - 20ga Sporting wads. Small Bore wads. Dispersor & Spreader wads. Sporting wads all gauges. Gualandi wads. Clay target wads. PT wads. B&P wads. Fed, Rem, Win & Claybuster.I just went out and tried a 1 oz. load using the DRV20 wad. STS hull and W-209, 17.0 grs, Longshot, (Hodgdon lists from 16.3 to 18.0 using the WAA20F1), and 1 oz. #7-1/2 shot. Had to use a little bit of wad pressure, but it then fit and crimped very nicely. Just need to contact Hodgdon and get their blessing on the load.
