Re: Mauser action rifle identification. It is a Small Ring. The pictures you need to take are of the top of the front portion of the reciever. Also you can measure the front of the reciever ring and if it is 1.4ish it is a large ring. If it is 1.3ish it is a small ring. Also measure the reeciever stock screws.It would be a Gewehr 98 bolt that had been inspected, accepted, and so marked -- but not marked as having been proof fired. Possibly from 'work in progress' at the end of WWI. Sounds like the barrel is the same length as a German K98k. I don't know if the Yugoslavs made new barrels in the K98k length, or just scrubbed all markings from a serviceable German made barrel.
